Discipline: Painting- interior and exterior murals, acrylic, watercolor, oil
My philosophy on art is art is the combination of all subjects: literature, history and philosophy for subject matter; mathematics is inherit in design; the science of color, the chemistry of mediums is unavoidable. Good art should incorporate a little bit of all subjects and inspire exploration of more.
I find peace in landscapes so you will find quite a few in my portfolio, but I also work portraits of people and animals when requested.
Most recently I have changed career paths from smaller landscapes and portraits to murals. I grew up with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, an autoimmune disorder, and I have had degenerative disc disease since I was 8, after a 12′ fall at a family reunion. Sitting for prolonged periods became an issue around 2014, and I finally had to give in and have a spinal fusion in 2016. The fusion failed and took 2 more surgeries to get me moving. Sitting can still be painful so the opportunity to move into murals was something I couldn’t pass up. It’s completely demanding physically, but in a different way than sitting or standing for a painting. Movement helps my spine. I now have nerve ablation every year to burn the nerves and quell pain caused by them. Unfortunately they grow back…I have been considered disabled since 2016.
My art involves a lot of blood, sweat and tears to manifest. Some days are physically exhaustive, some days rock.
I have completed over 75 comissioned works. Some families prefer to keep their art private, sometimes I simply forget to take photos once finished, and some photos were lost with dead phones and computers before I joined the cloud. As I run into patrons, I’m slowly amassing pictures of past work to post.
