  • About me

Artist Duncan Raster was born in Shreveport in 1990 and moved to Alexandria at the age of ten. From childhood on, the means she used to create and learn about the world has been tactile art media. The balance of her control and lack-there-of when dealing with the physics of a situation and accepting the outcome of accident in conjunction with conscious decision making is a process that she feels is sacred. With this knowledge she was led to pursue a BFA from LSU at Baton Rouge. Duncan exhibited in various student shows on campus, as well as the Surreal Salon 5 at Baton Rouge Gallery. She has taught independent observational drawing classes and exhibited in the Thomas Peyton Memorial Arts Festival. She was accepted into the New York Studio School’s Summer Drawing Marathon in 2014 and fell in love with the city. After living in Brooklyn for eight months, Duncan decided to return to her roots with passionate energy and vision.
