Inspired by “Eco Printed Silk” by Sherry Tamburo

A piece in the “Materiality” exhibition at Artspace (Jan/Feb 2020)

Slithering in the space, suspended by time and lines an unseen mystery.

The serpentine silk waves. Without rhythm, it sways, side to side,

Writers up and down, never to touch sky or ground.

A shed robe of a growing beast, taking a life of its own.

Less terrifying than its former inhabitant, yet just as majestic and mesmerizing.

Hypnotic.

A sheer delight for its captive audience.

It wriggles a dance to the toots of an imaginary flute,

Raising it from its woven abode.

Caught by the air, come near if you dare.

It will ensnare and seduce you.
