I like telling stories with my camera as a documentary photographer recording past and current history through my lens. I have always had a love for Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing creating designs for those who can’t themselves. I am creative, inquiring, positive, determined and talented and I have established myself throughout the years as this type of person. I stand on my principles and give 110% to all my work. I am an artist because I have always had a love for artistic careers. I did Information Technology for 23 years and in that time, I have done graphic design and desktop publishing, which is my first love.
The things I choose to record/ design are of a time not so long ago, in the lives of African Americans whether on a plantation, “getting religion” on a Sunday morning, or just a day in the life of. My parents grew up on a plantation and I am the first generation not to. This history has influenced my outlook on life, and I want to capture these frames of time in the hope of leaving a legacy for future generations. I do what I do because I love uplifting people. I love to give back to the community. I want to encourage others to do the same. I support my community; I push myself to be the best and I don’t give up.
I also like taking photos of nature: flowers, landscapes, trees and birds. There is so much you can learn from observing the things around you. The world is indeed a canvas and I like filling it with the beauty of life through Photography, Desktop Publishing and Graphic Designs.
I received my BA from Dartmouth and my MA from Wheaton College. I am currently working towards an Associate Degree in Communication Media from Bossier Parish Community College.
