Artist Statement

I tend to alternate between working intuitively and carefully planning how I want my art to look. The result is a duality, a varied aesthetic at times still cohesive. I studied sculpture and ceramics and for years approached them separately and with different objectives. I enjoy the processes of making pottery and traditional woodworking more so than other media and have begun to incorporate the two. Rather than strive for profundity or to voice a particular narrative, I prefer the experiences of each individual viewer inform their interpretation of my work. When I was young I wanted to be wealthy and famous because of my art. These days I’m content with just being happy and well. Making art helps me do that.
