In 2021 Kathryn won honorable mention in the literary division of Critical Mass 9. Critic Greg Brownderville said “…another piece I found deeply compelling was by Kathryn Usher. Kathryn had a piece that tells an amazing story. It’s so strange…it’s throwing something at you that you could have never foreseen.”
In January 2016, she landed in art critic Dave Hickey’s experimental book “Wasted Words.”
In 2015, she worked with Nick Cave on the eight month artist-in-residence project AS IS.
Kathryn has more than 30 years experience as a professional artist and was selected as a Critic’s Choice Collectible Artist by San Diego art critic Robert Pincus.
In 2014 Kathryn was awarded an Art Ambassador grant by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, which allowed her to exhibit textile work at Oxford Museum in the UK and in 2012 she received top poetry prize awarded by Meadows Museum as judged by Louisiana Poet Laureate Julie Kane.
