Artist Statement
Having always been drawn to the human form, Aiden's artwork has a tendency to revolve around portraiture and figure studies as subject matter. To do this, quite a chunk of time is necessary to be dedicated towards examining people-- paying close attention to their perspective, their proportions, and the way they occupy the space around them. As an actor, Aiden's method for preparing a character is quite similar-- although these observations must go deeper than the surface. To portray a character honestly requires researching what makes a person who they are-- a fraction of which is learning and analyzing their behaviors, thought processes, and vulnerabilities that lead to their actions and reactions to their given circumstances. Just as he strives to do on stage, Aiden hopes to use his visual art work to expose snippets of the unseen aspects of the human experience-- the raw parts of ourselves that we often leave guarded and hidden, the facets of our personalities that sometimes don't make sense-- and make them visible for all to see. -
