  • Artist Statement

My one-of-a kind fantasy masks are wearable art that can also be framed or displayed as wall art. I take simple mask forms and embellish them with crystals, sequins, glitter, feathers and an array of unique materials.

Masks are created in a wide variety of styles ranging from bird-like headdresses and exotic horned creatures to forest fantasies made with leaves and flowers, twigs, moss and other materials. Many masks are elegant, often accented with elaborate jeweled pieces.

I envision wearers of my masks to step outside their everyday world and be transformed into a mysterious entity, creating an illusion of being in a fantasy world of their own imagination.
  • Resume

I grew up in Shreveport, went to LSU in Baton Rouge and received a B.S. in horticulture and a master’s degree in landscape architecture, then served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and designed regional parks in Hawaii and Nevada.

In 1971, I opened The Enchanted Crystal of San Francisco, which became renowned for its ever-changing fantasy décor and award winning window displays. In my store’s design studio, I worked with artists to design dimensional stained glass art and to create a line of fantasy art cards. In 1992, I created San Francisco’s Easter Parade and Spring Celebration which I continue to host. An important feature of the family-friendly event is the hat contest, and each year I create dozens of elaborate fantasy hats to be worn by family, friends and customers.

For over 35 years, I designed headpieces for brides and women’s evening wear. I have also created hundreds of fantasy masks which are often used as home décor as well as wearable art worn to masquerades around the world. I returned to Shreveport in 2015 and my one-of-a-kind fantasy and Mardi Gras masks are currently exhibited at The Enchanted Garden of Shreveport.
