Born in the bayou country of south Louisiana, Yvonne Falgout Chafin spent her formative years amid the influences of the free spiritied and fun loving Cajun culture which instilled in her a love for music, dance, and other artistic interests. Following in the footsteps of her parents, both educators, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Her passion for painting began around the same time she started her career as a teacher.

Because her time at the easel was limited by her duties as a teacher and mother of two young boys, her career as an artist did not begin in earnest until 2000 when her two sons entered college and she moved with her husband to Norman, Oklahoma. It was there she met and studied under the artist who most influenced her work and style of painting. Yvonne started exhibiting her paintings in juried and studio shows which resulted in sales and commissions that continue to date. She has painted in acrylics, watercolor and pastels but her true passion is oils because of the rich, vibrant colors.

Yvonne has retired from teaching and now lives in Shreveport, Louisiana where she paints daily in her studio at home. She also enjoys painting with a group of local artists on a weekly basis and attends workshops several times a year to further her knowledge.
