About me
I photograph, therefore I am—a photographer.I am a visually biased person. My main passion in life is photography, making it, viewing it, studying it, teaching it, feeling it, thinking it. The world is my studio—when I'm not in my studio. I see photography is totally wedded conceptually with time. It freezes time (in various increments, long or short,) it takes us back in time, it helps us communicates with the future. It can show the passage of time, something our eyes may not be able to see.I also see photography about never-ending series of choices. When do I push the button? What do I leave in the frame? What do I leave out? How close do I get to the subject? How do I interpret the subject? How do I want the viewer to interpret the subject through the image? What can I learn from each frame? Can I change something in the subject to improve the image? Should I make a change? When do I think about what I'm doing and when should I use my only my heart?I respect the power of photography in art, in the world and in me. -
Resume
I am a product of Shreveport. Southfield School, Byrd High School, Washington & Lee University in Virginia, then back to Shreveport. Grad school was 4 years as a technician in a photo lab. Then I ventured behind a camera as a very naive businessman and photographer in 1980. I learned to be professional, but not as a wedding/portrait photographer, as a commercial and magazine photographer. I have learned by doing and believe strongly that learning never ends! I never stopped shooting for me. Does that make me an artist? I guess.
