About Artist

Basic Information

  • Artist Statement

My art is inspired by those nearest to my heart, my family & friends. Life is full of challenges, each one unique as the person experiencing it. I try to capture that uniqueness in my sculptures. I take ordinary things and add a twist to represent how we overcome life’s challenges. I use humor, vibrant colors, various textures, and even hidden design to incorporate both personality and nature into one, because without a little quirkiness, life can become mundane.

    Artist Background Statement
As an artist and recent graduate of Centenary College, I have been blessed by many opportunities to
expand my knowledge and skills in ways I never dreamt possible. My love for art began when I was a child,
admiring my mother’s paintings and sketches. I knew one day I wanted to be just like her, so I jumped at every
opportunity I got. For years I drew and painted. Anything from nature to the latest comic book designs, if it
could be drawn or painted, I did so. During my time in the military I got to try my hand at carving, creating
squadron shield designs for competitions, and I loved it! Being able to go from paper to a 3 dimensional
design was amazing! Fast forward to my time at Centenary, where I was introduced to the world of sculpture. I
discovered a passion for creation like I’ve never experienced before. I now create sculptures and carvings on
anything from my children to random oddities that capture the viewers eye and invite laughter. I strive to
brighten the world through my art in color, texture, humor, and quirk!
